Introduction
What this project is about
The origin of the project
This portrait series began as a personal inquiry: what does it mean to truly look at someone? Not at their appearance, but at the layers beneath — the guarded gestures, the involuntary expressions, the silence between answers.
Over time, the project evolved from a simple exercise into a sustained exploration of identity, vulnerability, and the complex relationship between subject and photographer.
How a session works
Each sitting lasts between one and three hours. I work without a strict shot list, letting the conversation guide the light. We talk — about memories, habits, fears. I photograph when something true emerges, not when the composition is perfect.
The result is never a portfolio of ideal portraits. It is a document of an encounter.
About the images
The photographs are shot on medium format film and large format digital. Post-processing is minimal: exposure, contrast, a deliberate colour palette. Nothing is added that was not already in the room.
All subjects have full approval of the images published here.
On privacy and participation
Participation is always voluntary. Some subjects choose to remain anonymous; their sessions are published without names. Others want their full story told.
